“A” STEP
FALL 2025 | Length: 5 weeks
Project Focus: Woodworking, Joinery, Human interaction
INSPIRATION BOARD
My main goal was to create a human-centered piece. I wanted to achieve comfortable seating, a clean aesthetic, and practical storage space for shoes. It has a designated spot in the home and is used daily by the user.
A PERSONA
For the user, I envisioned a Gen Z or late Millennial persona—someone who loves movement and outdoor activities. This user appreciates color accents and personality in their space. My orange color theme was inspired by this vision, as orange is associated with camping ropes and outdoor adventure.
INITIAL THUMBNAIL SKETCHES
In my ideation phase, I focused on bringing the aesthetic to life. I explored different forms and types of shoe rugs, played with handles and types of joinery, such as post and rung, post and beam, and post and slab.
