Project Focus: Design and create a new version of the classic game of chess.
INSPIRATION BOARD
My inspiration comes from Brutalist architecture, a style strongly connected to my home country. I was influenced by its use of concrete, strong geometry, and honest material expression. Fragmented forms that come together and create a unified structure. Openings through the center—similar to architectural windows.

MATERIAL RESEARCH
Material exploration focused on finding a balance between manufacturability, durability, and aesthetic character. I explored a range of material combinations that could support both a classic and modern presence. Concrete became the primary material choice due to its strength, longevity, and connection to Brutalist architecture. Marble textures influenced the surface finish and were later introduced through color variation, alongside wood and clear resin, to add contrast and visual depth to the set.
