BLOOMANCE

Spring 2025 | Length: 5 weeks

Project Focus: 3D Printing, Accessibility, Wiring, Research

Ambient lamp inspired by organic forms and tensile structures. Featuring a lightweight acrylic frame, threaded details, and integrated LED illumination, BLOOMENCE creates a dynamic play of light and shadow that transforms any interior into a glowing atmosphere.

FORM EXLORATORY

For the form exploration phase, I started by sketching floral and organic shapes — petals, buds, and spiral geometry that mimic nature’s growth. My goal was to translate the softness and gentle curves of a blooming bud into a physical object.

LIGHT VARIETIONS

Lighting was central to BLOOMANCE’s experience: how the lamp glows, how the light diffuses across and through the petals, and how gradients could enhance the organic feel.

I played with color — warm whites, soft ambers, and very gentle pastels — to see which palette best matched the “flower in bloom” concept.

Wiring Process

I used a simple, self-soldered parallel circuit to power three LEDs. Wiring them in parallel ensured each LED receives the full supply voltage, maximizing brightness without complicated electronics.

PROTOTYPING

I modeled the lamp’s internal structure in Fusion 360, exporting several design variants. These models were 3D-printed to test different geometries, fit, and how the LEDs would sit relative to the petals. By iterating with rapid prints, I optimized both light diffusion and the assembly process.

Conclusion

Building BLOOMANCE taught me how to balance aesthetic ambition with technical constraints — especially when embedding electronics in delicate, sculptural geometry.
